97 Points Luca Maroni
95 Points Falstaff "Dark ruby-red. The nose is spicy and complex with notes of precious wood, toast and tobacco alongside hints of ripe cranberries, cigar box and undergrowth. The palate combines pronounced fruit flavours, spiciness and polished, tightly woven tannins. A wonderfully long and elegant finish which is layered and completely moreish."
Wild, peppery herbs, menthol, bright cherries,
blueberry skins and a whiff of vanillin oak all come together as the 2018 Merlot
Mossone opens in the glass. This is like pure silk on the palate, yet with a savory
wave of woodland berries, minerals and inner earth tones that penetrate deeply.
Nervous acidity and a bump of tangerine adds gravitas, leading into its long,
structured and almost-smoky finale. The Mossone is all about youthful tension
today, yet all the components are in place for a long, steady and pleasure-filled
evolution.
